The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a registered sex offender for a recent charge of touching a child with lustful purposes.
Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said Dwayne P. Campbell, 52, of 128 Lakeview Dr. in Carriere was arrested on two counts of touching a child with lustful purposes after the alleged crime was reported on March 7.
Tucker said Campbell is alleged to have inappropriately touched two 15-year-old females at their home on March 2.
Campbell was previously convicted and sentenced for the charge of rape in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana in 1988, Tucker said. He said Campbell was sentenced to 30 years of prison time, but was released from prison in 2005.
Tucker said he can’t provide more information because of its sensitive nature and minors are involved.
Campbell is being held at Pearl River County Detention Facility for the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
