Funeral services will be held Friday March 28, 2014 at 12 noon in Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church for Mrs. Annie M. Johnson, 95, of Picayune, Miss. who passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Our Place Personal Assistance Home in Picayune.

The Rev. Delbert Hall will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Floral Hills Mausoleum in Gulfport, Miss. under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home,

A native of Shuqualak, Miss., she was an educator primarily in English, Literature and Music, for 40 years. She served as a School Board Member, George Washington Carver Glee Club Director, and Head of Nurses’ Club, and was a member of Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Professor John P. Johnson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Annie Gaston; one son, John P. Johnson Jr.; one brother, Albert Gaston Jr.; one sister, Julia M. Roberts.

Survivors include: three daughters: Margaret Jean Miller of Castro Valley, Calif., Carolyn E. Downing of Gulfport, and Shelia S. Johnson of New Orleans, La.; two grandsons, John Downing and Prentiss Downing, both of Gulfport; two granddaughters, Lisa M. Cleveland of Sacramento, Calif., and Meredith Miller of San Leandro, Calif.; five great-granddaughters: two great-grandsons, and one great great-grandson.

Visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2014, 9-11:45 a.m. at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
