The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday served an arrest warrant for three church burglaries that took place in late January, said Chief Deputy Shane Tucker.
The warrant was served to Blake R. Miley, 18, of 5 Magnolia Dr. in Carriere, Tucker said.
Miley was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary of a church, after which his bond was set at $20,000 cash for each count, Tucker said.
Tucker said the sheriff’s department received information on Miley’s alleged involvement after a patrol deputy mentioned the burglaries to several acquaintances.
Through the department’s investigation, it was revealed Miley was seen at the location of one of the burglaries. Miley was also in possession of a safe stolen during one of the burglaries and “dominations of currency consistent with the amount reported stolen,” Tucker said.
Tucker said others might be arrested at a later date in connection with the burglaries as the investigation continues.
Miley has been charged with the burglaries of Picayune Church of God, First Baptist Church of Carriere and Pine Grove Baptist Church, which were burglarized between Jan. 26 and Jan. 31.
