Local teams set to throw out first pitch
Prep fast-pitch softball season is set to begin across the state of Mississippi over the weekend, and several local teams will be throwing out the first pitch as well. Poplarville is traveling to Stone County to open the season on Saturday, while Pearl River Central is hosting Lumberton on Saturday to kick off the season as well.
The Picayune Lady Tide is one of a group of teams from across South Mississippi invited to participate in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Softball Classic, which will take place over a three day span at the Gulfport SportsPlex.
