GOLDEN, MS. — James F. “Gip” Gibson, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his residence. He was born September 1, 1937 in Clarksdale, Miss. and was a chemist for EPA at Stennis Space Center for 27 years. He was a member of Second Street Church of Christ, Belmont, Miss.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 31, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. John Williams and Bro. Adam Cozort officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Clarksdale. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanford T. Gibson and his mother, Vivian M. Gibson.

Survivors are his wife – Edna Manning Gibson, Golden, Miss.; children, Jim Gibson (Lisa) Madison, Ala. and Linda Gibson Edwards (Tony) Jackson, Miss.; grandchildren: Matt Gibson (McKenna), Ben Gibson, Will Gibson, Lee Gibson, Casey Edwards, Carly Edwards and Ross Edwards; an aunt, Imogene M. Williams, Golden, Miss.; sister-in-law, Jean Parham (Dr. David); brother-in-law, Charles Lee Manning and several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Matt Gibson, Ben Gibson, Will Gibson, Ross Edwards, Joey Moore, Ronnie Taylor, Mike Johnson, Lee Gibson, Wendell Vandagriff, Richard Sellers and Wallace Williams.

Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 1, at Oakridge Cemetery, Clarksdale.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 30, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al.
