Run with the Pigs 5K to be held

The newest addition to the annual Backyard BBQ Challenge is the Run with the Pigs 5K.
It is hosted by the Pearl River County Home Builders Assoc., Picayune Chamber and the City of Picayune.
The race times will be as follows:
8 a.m. — 1 mile fun run. Runners only; no walkers.
8:30 a.m. — 5K (3.2 miles) will begin. Runners and Walkers.
5K route: Start at Kirkwood/Goodyear between the library and
Auditorium, cross goodyear and run up West Canal, turn right on Main and run in front of the police station and Paul Bounds, turn around at the end of Main and run back up the Northbound side of main to Goodyear Blvd, turn left on Goodyear and run to the end and turn around and run back up Goodyear to the new City Hall and race will end at the new clock.
Water and snacks are available at end of race and awards will be presented at Jack Read Park before the start of the BBQ Contest.
Each 5K runner/walker receives a nice Dri-fit event tee shirt and entry into the BBQ tasting.
There is a costume contest for best pig costume. A prize will be given for the winner of this contest.
