Funeral Services for William Robert “Bill” Jackson Sr., 88, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Monday, August 26, 2013, will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 1 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Pastor Thomas Allen will officiate the service.
A native of Mobile, Ala., he was a veteran of WWII with the 1884th Aviation Engineering Battalion. Bill was a State Farm Insurance Agent and a member of The Church of the Nazarene, Pearl River, La.. He was a Gideon, a master gardener at Crosby Arboretum, a Lay Leader at the United Methodist Church on the Coast. Bill was a volunteer for the homeless shelter in Biloxi, and volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity. He was a Past President of Lake David Association. Bill also authored an amendment to the 1995 Paperwork Reduction Act, signed by President Bill Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee J. Jackson and Katherine Victoria Williams Jackson; his son, Robert Jerome Jackson; his brothers, James Earl Jackson, Oron Lee Jackson, Claude Jackson, Eugene Jackson, and Cecil Jackson; and his sisters, Ruby Crosby and Ila Mae Betancourt.
Survivors include his wife, Muriel Goodloe Jackson; his sons, William Robert Jackson Jr. and Alan Eugene Jackson; his step daughter, Michele Porter and husband Ed, his step sons, Robert Vicknair and wife Patricia, Ryan Vicknair, and Burton Gilbert; 9 grandchildren, Mary Lee, Peter, Eric, Jonathan, Ed IIII, Ryan, Lauren, Jennifer, and Jillian; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
