Friday evening, officers responded to a call regarding a man exposing himself to minors.

The complainant stated that two juveniles ran into his business saying “a white, male subject with a grayish, blonde beard had his under garments down and was indecently touching himself inside his vehicle,” said Jeremy Magri, assistant to the chief of police.

The juveniles stated that “the vehicle was slowly passing them on Magnolia Street and the driver was staring at them with his hands on his genitals,” Magri said. The juveniles got scared and ran to the nearest safe place, which was a business located on Norwood Street, he said.

The vehicle is believed to be an older model Ford Taurus or a vehicle of a similar style and white in color, Magri said. “The male subject appears to be in his early 20s to 30s and was last seen wearing a yellow shirt with black letters,” he said.

After further questioning, officers learned that the unknown male subject did not try to entice the juveniles or entrap them physically, said Magri.

Officers patrolled the area and were unable to locate a vehicle fitting the description, he said. Surrounding surveillance cameras were reviewed and returned no results, said Magri.

The Picayune Police Department has paid close attention to two incidents that occurred in north and south Gulfport, Magri said, since the description of the suspect in Picayune and the one in Gulfport are similar, as are the descriptions of the vehicles involved.

“Gulfport police are dealing with a similar situation, he said. “At this time, it is not known if the cases are related.”

Gulfport police are warning parents of a man trying to lure children into his car, as reported by WLOX. The reports of the two inccidents in Gulfport were made over the weekend.

Gulfport police described the vehicle as a white four-door car. The white male in question has “blonde to light brown hair, a peanut colored mustache and is in his late 20s or early 30s,” WLOX reported.

Officials with the Gulfport Police Department said the case in Picayune is not considered to be related and the investigation is on-going.

The Picayune Police Department is asking that anyone with any information regarding this crime or the identity of the suspect to call the police department at (601)798-7411 or Crime Stoppers at (601)799-2583.
