The Taylor clan from Tru TV’s “Swamp Hunters” series will be judging the American Legion Post 73 Ladies Auxiliary Barbecue which will be held from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. The Legion is located at 2500 Union School Road; all proceeds will go to fund their Christmas Basket project. The Butch Fields Band will be playing outside from noon to 4 p.m. Dustin Taylor says, “Dad was in the Army and a good friend of mine was killed in Iraq. We love the Legion family and applaud them for the good they do in the community. We participated in the crawfish boil a couple of months back and were happy to judge this contest. “We would like to encourage everyone to come out and support the Ladies Auxiliary with this event. The Legion helps so many people in this area such as veterans, spouses of veterans, low income families, and Ella’s Light — all are good reasons to come out, show support and eat some good barbeque.” Ladies Auxiliary member Diane Miller says, “Proceeds from sale of plates to go to Ladies Auxiliary to help with Christmas Food Baskets. Last 2 years we did 100 baskets to Veterans, spouses of Veterans, and low income families in the City of Picayune. “Entry forms can be obtained at either the Legion or at the Intermodal Center. There is a $25 entry fee, but meat will be provided by Ladies Auxiliary. Judgng will be held at 2 p.m., at which time food plates will begin being sold to the public. Cash prizes for the entrants are $100, $50 and $25 plus trophies.” For more information call: Legion at 601-798-9868, or Miller at 601-799-0606.
