On Sunday, June 9, 2013 God called His child to her eternal home. Myrtle was born September 7, 1942 to A.D. and Bernethia Burton in Picayune.
She was educated in Picayune Schools and graduated from Carver High in 1963. Myrtle was previously employed by D.H. Holmes Department Store and Schwegmann Supermarket. She also worked as a child care provider.
Myrtle was married to the late Haywood Rhone and was a resident of New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina. She was a member of Greater Evergreen Baptist Church in New Orleans.
Myrtle is survived by: her sons, the Rev. Chrissell and Glenndell Rhone; grandchildren, Breian, Shane, and Cade Rhone; sisters, Juanita Terrell and Felecia (Coleman) Davis; brothers, A.D. (Dora) and Daniel Roy, Don Griffith, Carl Ray (Delories), Theodore, Larry (Dianne), Joseph (Lenora), and Victor (Lisa) Burton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 12 noon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald Parker, host pastor. The Rev. Terrance Ranson, Sr., officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery.
