Lawrence Joseph “L.J.” Reiss, Jr., S.F.O., 89, of Picayune, Miss., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 11:15 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Snyder officiating.

L.J. was an active parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, a Sacristarian, and Knights of Columbus 4th Order.

He was a Chief Yeoman in the United States Navy during World War II. He had a Latin Legume Baccalaurean degree and served has a lawyer for the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia. He was member of Disabled American Vets-VFW, Elks, Order of Alhambra, AARP and a past President of the Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice L. Reiss.

He is survived by: one son, Lawrence J. “Larry” Reiss, III of Hilo, Hawaii; two daughters, Mary-Ellen Manes of Groton, Conn. and Patricia (Charlie) Albright of Picayune; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers Mass is preferred.
