Funeral Services for Meritta Wynona Gonzalez, 83, of Ocoee, Fla., who passed away in Poplarville, Miss., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, will be held Monday, March 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home, 1148 East Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.

Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 401 West Canal Street, Picayune, Miss., and also Monday, March 11, 2013 from 9-10 a.m. at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., under the direction of Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home.

Local Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune.

She was a Homemaker and a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. Meritta was an avid church member, and she loved gardening, quilting, and cooking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John Flowers and Beatrice Richards Flowers; her husband, Nilo Gonzalez; her son, Stuart Peoples; her grandson, Eric Peoples; her grandson-in-law, Richard Miller Jr.; and her brothers, John Hillard Flowers, Harmon Bauldree Flowers, Donald Lee Flowers, and Cornelius Flowers.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sandra Gaines and husband Charles; her step-daughter, Diane Cole and husband David; her grandchildren, Deanna Mitchell and husband Shane, and Brenna Miller; her great-grandchildren, Ava and Braden Mitchell, and Skyler Miller; and her sisters, Monette Flowers and husband Ed, Wanda White and husband Bob, Faith Baker and husband James, and Grace Shirley and husband Stanley.
