Ted and Lynne Barze’ 2013 King and Queen of Krewe of the Pearl

Ted and Lynne Barze’ were announced as the 2013 King and Queen of the Krewe of the Pearl. The couple were crowned Saturday, January 12th at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
The King and Queen then announced their court as: Suzy and Buddy McDonald, Debbie and Louis Galiano, Lynette and Dale Shorba and Carmen and Victor Leon.
The Crowning Ceremony was attended by former Kings and Queens of the past Krewe of Roses, among them: Martha and Cubby Ford, Sandra Barker and Reba Beebe.
Lynne Barze’ said, “Ted and I feel like this honor that has been bestowed on us is more of an outpouring of love from this community than we ever could have expected when when we first selected Picayune as our home.
“Each person on our court played a pivotal part in us either choosing Picayune or staying in Picayune. We are honored and grateful to call these people, among many others our friends.”
Ball Co-chair and GPAC Vice president Carolyn Terry said, “We are very proud and honored to have the Greater Picayune Arts Council partner with the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce in the Krewe of the Pearl Ball, which is to be the premier event of the year in 2013 for Picayune.
“We are equally proud of our King and Queen; they are business people— owning Barze’s on Highway 11 South. They are both involved in many organizations in Picayune, such as Picayune Main Street, Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary, The Greater Picayune Arts Council and the Picayune Writers’ Guild. They are also very involved in St. Charles Borromeo Church and are people of great faith.”
Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce Director April Lovelace said, “The Chamber board and staff are elated to have such a vibrant couple as our first King and Queen for Krewe of the Pearl.”
Court member Buddy McDonald said, “We are fortunate to have a King And Queen such as the Barze’s and this Ball— with the food, band and entertainment planned is shaping up to be the best ever.”
“Best wishes to King Ted and Queen Lynn Barze; enjoy your night to shine ‘Puttin on the Ritz’ as the 2013 Royal Couple of Krewe of the Pearl,” said former Krewe of Roses Queen Reba Beebe.
The Krewe of the Pearl will have their inaugural ball from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday the 19th at Southern Char Steak House. Tickets for the formal event are $60 per person and include: Dinner catered by Southern Char Steak House; entrance to the Ball; live entertainment by X-Finity Dance Academy; and an evening of dancing to music by Harvey Jesus and Fire band.
