Pearl River County Emergency Management Agency Director Danny Manley confirmed to the Picayune Item late Tuesday afternoon that an apparent tornado touched down near Henleyfield-McNeill Road and White Chapel Road. The area of this touchdown is about five miles north of Carriere. According to Manley, about 12 homes were damaged and there were several minor injuries to residents.
Also, according to the first responders sent to the scene, there were trees and power lines down. The doors to at least one home had been blown open and there apparently was water inside that home, according to WLOX-TV reports.
The Picayune Item will have more coverage of this event in Thursday’s edition.
