For nine days in November, beginning November 10th and ending November 18th, the Pearl River County SPCA is joining a national life-saving movement by offering a “9 Lives for $9” special pricing on cats aged nine-months or older.

The shelter, located at 1700 Palestine Road in Picayune, is offering an adoption fee of $9 for any adoptable cat aged nine-months or older during the 10 day event which is supported by Best Friends Animal Society and funded in part by PetSmart Charities.

PRC SPCA member, Maria Diamond, says, “When you perform the lifesaving act of adopting cats, your life is better also. You are bringing purring balls of love into your home that can help you lower your risk of heart attack, boost your immune system, reduce your blood pressure and a host of other health benefits as well. If laughter is the best medicine, cats can surely provide a daily dose with their antics. They are also a source of consolation and companionship.

“Every day 9,000 animals are killed in shelters simply because they don’t have homes. Just by adopting a cat or two, everyone can be part of this nationwide movement to end the killing of adoptable, treatable animals.”
