The win came after a 17-6 loss on the road to West Harrison last season.

“In the regular season, that was by far our most disappointing loss last year,” PRC third year head coach Eric Collins said. “And that’s because we felt like we just had a better team than they did going into that game.

“That was part of our momentum this week in practice. We challenged our kids and they really responded.”

The Blue Devils got off to a  fast start thanks to an opportunistic defense and never looked back.

PRC defensive end Lane Fazende scooped up a fumbled by Hurricane quarterback John Dunning on the fourth play of the game and sprinted 16 yards for a score to put PRC ahead to stay. The fumble was caused when Adam Perone sacked the West harrison signal-caller.

Steven Kubicki scooted 18 yards for a touchdown run later in the quarter, and the Blue Devils led 14-0 after the first period.

The Blue Devils put the game out of reach with three touchdowns in the second period.

Kubicki got things rolling with a two-yard scoring plunge, and just minutes later PRC scored its second defensive touchdown of the game when Drew Cruz picked Dunning off and returned it 43 yards to paydirt.

Spiers hit Tyrek Whitehead on  48-yard scoring strike late in the period, on a drive that was kept alive when Blue Devil lineman Hayden Smith fell on a loose ball.

Javon Detto, who was perfect  on eight extra point attempts, made it 35-0 at intermission.

“Our defense played lights out,” Collins added. “They played with a lot of intensity and emotion, and they were flying around and causing turnovers and we scored points off those turnovers.”

Spiers hit Daniel Rosine on a 78-yard catch and score on the first play of the second half to make it 42-0.

As Collins emptied his bench, Curry Goodwin ended the scoring on the night as he scored on a pair of short runs later in the third frame for PRC, one from 19-yards out and the other from 5-yards away..

Dillon Sones also recovered a fumble for PRC and Caleb Morales had an interception.

The Blue Devils travel to Long beach for another district outing next week.
