Charles Venckus

Memorial services for Charles Venckus, 94, of Nicholson, Miss., who passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012, will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Nicholson.
Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
The Rev. R.T. Buckley will officiate the service.
A native of Chicago, Ill., he was a truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church of Nicholoson for 51 years. Chuck was a member of the Teamsters Local 705, Chicago, Ill. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be truly missed. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of the 394th infantry and the 99th Infantry. Chuck had battles in the Ardennes, Central Europe, and the Rhineland.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; Vincent Venckus and Anna Venckus; his daughter, Carol Diane Venckus; his son, Grady Thigpen, Sr., and his brothers, Vincent Venckus Jr. and Eddie Venckus.
Survivors include: his wife of 69 years and 3 months, Edna Smith Venckus; his children: Charles Daniel Venckus and wife Judy, Bevely Lamar Thigpen and wife Wanda; his daughter-in-law, Charlene Thigpen; seven grandchildren: Grady Thigpen Jr., James Thigpen, Julie Thigpen, Terri Monken, Michele Zilligen, Carol Thigpen, and Chuck Venckus, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Nicholson, 3352 Jackson Land Rd., Picayune MS 39463.
