Hazardous materials that may have been contaminated by flood waters, or need to be disposed of for any reason, can be brought to a site on Incinerator Road in Picayune for proper disposal.

The site will be open for about two more weeks, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located on Incinerator Road off of East Canal next to the Interstate 59 overpass.

Items that can be brought to the site include gasoline, antifreeze, paints, stains, thinners, kerosene, propane, oils, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, furniture polish, pool chemicals, thermostats, light ballasts, ant and roach sprays, wasp and hornet sprays and lawn fertilizers, according to a release from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

The site opened Sept. 14, and was expected to remain open for at least three weeks, or as long as the need remains.
