Stella Mae Roberts

Swing low sweet chariot, came to carry home, our beloved, Stella Mae Roberts, 69, on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at her home in Picayune.
Born in Vossburg, Miss., December 14, 1942 to the late Johnny J. & Tensie Lee Satcher. She graduated from South Side High School in Heidelberg, Miss., in 1962. Stella Mae Satcher married John H. Roberts in 1962 and to that union, four children were born.
At an early age, she joined Triumph COGIC and later moved to picayune and joined Rose of Sharon COGIC under the leadership of the late W.R. Keys. As a member at Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C., she worked faithfully in the house of the Lord. She worked as a hospitality worker, deaconess, Mother’s Board, Trustee Board member, choir singer, Treasurer of Bible Band, Communion Staff Worker, Sunday School Teacher, and served on the local kitchen dept. at Rose of Sharon and at the District Jurisdictional department.
She worked in the food service industry at W.T. Grant, Mary’s Restaurant, and The Round Table; manufacturing industry at Mason Chamberlain Inc., Neco’s Electric, and Wagner’s Industry. She also worked in the childcare field at the Picayune Headstart Complex, Magnolia Grove, and McCarty Learning Center.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, John; one daughter, Sabrina; one grandson, Willie II; her mother and father; and four brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Felecia (Jerry) McDougle of Picayune; Janice (Willie) Holiday of Jackson, Miss., Michael Roberts of Waldolf, Md., and Lenson Roberts of Picayune; four brothers, George (Vashti) Satcher of Hyattsville, Md., Lewis Satcher of Clinton, Md., Amos Satcher of Oxion Hill, Md.; and Gary Dale (Faye) Satcher of Oxion Hill; two sisters, Allie Marie Price of Washington, D.C. and Annie M. Satcher of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C.
Burial will be in Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
