Funeral Services for LaFerne Elva Stover “Ferne” Gaddis, 90, of Magnolia, Texas, formerly of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 will be held Friday, April 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Born March 22, 1922, in Fairview, Ill., “Ferne” made Picayune her home for many years. She worked for numerous physicians in the Picayune and Slidell area prior to retiring in 1997. Ferne was an avid reader and enjoyed preparing wonderful meals for friends and family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, who will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Russell Stover and Maude Shoemaker Stover; her brother, Nelson Stover; and her sister, Frances Lundry.

Survivors include: her children: Joyce Fetters of Spring, Texas, Karen Allette Karavitis and husband George of Naples, Fla., Paula Scianna and husband Steve of Magnolia, Patti Avolio and husband John of Albuquerque, N.M.; her grandchildren: Christy Baxter, Dane Baxter, Julie Fricke and husband Jared, Tim Stockstill, Chad Polk and wife Paige, Holly Polk Kennedy and husband Brad, Cliff Bales, Steve Scianna Jr., Courtney Scianna Bauers, Anna Elmore and husband Jim, and Greg Fetters; great grandchildren: Brant and wife Tara, Dylan, Lauren, Justin, Brooke, Brady, Macy, Morgan, Ryan, Colette, Nicholas, Olivia and Gabriella; her sister, Evelyn Paige of Peoria, Ill. and fraternal sister and brother Maye and George Peacock of Winston Salem, N.C.
