Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday March 31, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Picayune, Miss., for Mr. Daniel Fleming Olive, 73, of Poplarville, Miss. who passed away Saturday March 24, 2012 in AMG Specialty Hospital, Slidell, La. Dr. Jim Biedenharn will officiate at the service.
Mr. Olive was a physical scientist at Stennis Space Center, during his thirty year tenure he was awarded the “Silver Snoopy” for innovation and contributions to improve the overall safety of Space Shuttle Flight; he was an alumnus of Purdue University earning his Bachelor’s Degree in physics and Master’s Degree in Business Management, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Picayune.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Osie and Louise Shaw Olive; and one sister, Bobiline Susman.
Survivors include: his wife, Trudy Olive of Poplarville; three sons, Curt Olive and his wife Kim of Poplarville, Scott Olive and his wife Robyn of Picayune, and Matt Olive and his wife Tricia of Carriere, Miss.; one daughter, Gracie Daniels of Poplarville; one sister, Carolyn West and her husband Jim of Cypress, Texas; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
