The Senior Center is hosting its first Mardi Gras parade for pets and calling it Pawdi Gras 2012. The event will be held on Goodyear Blvd from 10 a.m. (registration at Jack Read Park) to 1 p.m. (ending at Jack Read Park) and awards will be given for both the court and regular parade crew. Registration is $25 for regular crew and $50 for court. All registrants will receive an official t-shirt and proceeds will benefit the Senior Center, SPCA and local animal rescue.
Senior Center Board President, John Houston says, “This will be a lot of fun for everyone involved. Our king and queen will be adoptable pets looking for homes from the SPCA and animal rescue. Both groups will be on hand to answer questions with adoptable pets.”
The 2012 theme is “A Fairy Tail.” Owners are encouraged to dress with their pet.
Pet photography will be provided for a charge by Carolyn Terry Photography with the official Pawdi Gras backdrop.
Categories for ribbons in both categories are: Spirit of Pawdi Gras, Best Float and Best Costume.
Applications can be picked up at the Senior Center, both locations of MeLinda’s Fine Gifts, Aprils, Barze’s Antiques with more locations to come. All applications should be delivered to the Senior Center located at 45 El Patch Pkwy, behind Wal-Mart, on the Frontage Road behind the Kobe Grill.
