The Greater Picayune Chamber’s Krewe of the Pearl Mardi Gras Parade will be held Monday, February 13, at 6 p.m. on Goodyear Blvd.

The Greater Picayune Arts Council (GPAC) is set to lead the parade with their newly purchased and renovated float they acquired strictly through donations.

GPAC President, Carolyn Terry, says, “Our membership is diverse in talents but on the same page when it comes to having fun. We are so excited about riding in this parade and what it could mean for our city. We have all worked so hard to make this happen. In roughly less than a week, GPAC had enough donations to purchase our float from Picayune Main Street. We then had to renovate and repair the float to get it parade ready.

“Thankfully, we had enough people and members step forward through all phases so that the impossible could be possible and we not only accomplished it but did so without touching our general fund. It is wonderful and we can’t wait to unveil it at the parade.”

“To publicize the parade, Chamber Director, April Lovelace has blanketed schools with flyers and put signs out around the county, in addition to working with local media,” says, Chamber Executive Secretary, Toni Jarrell-Farmer.
