A bar fight Friday morning resulted in one man being run over by the other with a pickup truck.

The fight was reported to Picayune Police officers Friday morning at about 1:44 at the American Legion Hall on Union School Road, said Capt. Chad Dorn.

Before the call came in, two men, 39-year-old Sidney Raymond Boone, and a 29-year-old man, were having some drinks at the club for veterans when an altercation between the two broke out over the victim’s ex-girlfriend, Dorn said.

The victim began to beat on Boone’s white Chevy pickup truck during the altercation, eventually breaking out the driver’s side window, Dorn said. Boone was in his truck at that time and after the victim climbed into the back of Boone’s truck, Boone drove off, the police captain said. Dorn said once Boone noticed the victim was not in the back of the truck anymore, he drove back to the American Legion to find the victim standing in the parking lot. As Boone tried to make a U-turn to leave the area again, the victim stepped in front of the vehicle and was run over, Dorn said.

Boone then left the scene, but returned to the Legion Hall after hearing the victim was injured, Dorn said.

Dorn said officers found the victim to be unresponsive when they arrived on scene. The victim was transported to Highland Community Hospital and later transported to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Dorn said the nature of the victim’s injuries was unavailable Friday afternoon.

Boone, of 281A. Dumas Bailey Rd., was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, DUI and driving while license suspended, Dorn said.
