Picayune’s old City Hall is crowning achievement of world famous architect: Part 1 of 3

(Editor’s Note: This is the first of a three-part installment about Picayune’s historic City Hall on Goodyear Boulevard, which the city council is planning to renovate and expand with a new annex. The current old City Hall on Goodyear Boulevard was constructed in 1938-39 and was designed by a famous British architect and is in the unique Georgian architectural style. The first City Hall was constructed on the same spot in 1904. City officials plan to re-occupy the old Goodyear City Hall and new annex when it is completed, and vacate the current City Hall on Beech Road, which the city sold to HSI. If all goes smoothly, city officials hope to occupy the newly refurbished and expanded city hall in September 2012. This story is written by local historian David H. Stockstill.)
