A Natchez firefighter has been killed in a traffic accident in Franklin County.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said firefighter Henry M. Jackson was killed Tuesday in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 84 just west of Meadville.

The patrol says Jackson’s truck veered onto the median before crossing both lanes of traffic, running off the right side of the highway and striking a tree.

Franklin County Coroner Percy Peeler says Jackson died at the scene.

The 37-year-old Jackson has worked for the Natchez Fire Department for 16 years.
