Most places to close for Thanksgiving

Picayune city government offices will close Thursday and Friday.

Pearl River County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, also.

All school systems in the county are closed for Thanksgiving week.

The U.S. Post Offices in the county and in Poplarville and Picayune will not deliver mail on Thursday. Most offices will close at noon on Wednesday and Friday and all offices will be closed on Thursday.

In Picayune, there will be no garbage pickup on Thursday, a Picayune spokesperson said. Thursday’s pickup will be on Friday and Friday’s pickup will be on Saturday.

In Poplarville, there will be no change in garbage pickup, said a City Hall spokesperson. Garbage is picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays in Poplarville.

A Wal-Mart spokesperson said that the store will be open around-the-clock for Thanksgiving holidays, as usual. Wal-Mart closes on only one day a year, Christmas.

On Thanksgiving Day, both Walgreen stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Picayune Item will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

The Poplarville Democrat offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

Boone’s Pharmacy in Poplarville will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Pearl River Drug in Poplarville will also be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Most offices at Stennis will be closed Thursday and Friday, but closings there vary so check local listings of office closures at the Space Center.

Winn-Dixie will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday.

In Picayune, Sunflower will be open until noon on Thanksgiving.

In Poplarville, Sunflower will be closed on Thursday, and Greers will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Claiborne Hill in Picayune will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday.
