Jackson County investigators have arrested a 37-year-old Pascagoula man and charged him with possession of child pornography.

Sheriff Mike Byrd said that Richard Matthew Berry was arrested Tuesday through the Internet Crimes Against Children system.

Byrd says the computer system combines new technologies to help track down suspected child predators.

A county judge set bail at $50,000 Wednesday, but Berry remains in the Jackson County Adult Dentition Center.

If convicted, Berry faces up to 40 years in prison.

It was not immediately clear if Berry has an attorney.
