Mississippi is in the process of choosing a state poet laureate — someone who will create and read poetry for state events or even for government agencies’ activities.
The state Arts Commission says Oct. 28 is the deadline to nominate people for the unpaid position.
Gov. Haley Barbour asked the Arts Commission, the Library Commission, the Department of Archives and History and the Humanities Council to lead a search committee so he can make the appointment.
