Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at East Jerusalem Baptist Church for Joseph Eohlimn Hawthorne, 42, of Picayune, who left this earthly home on Monday, September 26, 2011 in Oschner Medical Center-North Shore, Slidell, La.
Pastor Brian K. Dees will officiate at the service. Internment will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Joseph was born June 2, 1969 in Laurel, Miss. He moved to Yitlandsti, Mich., in 2000 and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the male choir and was in deacon training. After returning home he renewed his membership with East Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Brotherhood, Choir, Sisterhood and Brotherhood Choir and Brotherhood Male Choir. Joseph graduated from Picayune Memorial High School, Class of 1988, and was employed with First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Forever cherishing his memories are: his beloved mother, Joyce Hawthorne McCarty of Picayune; his daughter, Janea Trotter of Picayune; two uncles, Steve Hawthorne of Picayune, and Charles Ray Hawthorne of San Antonio, Texas; two aunts, Creola H. Nixon Dantzler of Laurel, and Lynett Hawthorne of Picayune; one grandson, Terrance McFarland of Picayune; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
