Two full-time officers with the Lumberton Police Department have been fired, along with three part-time officers.

No specific reasons were given for any of the firings. However, Aldeman Kent Crider said that the full-time officers, Chris Franklin and Cassandra Fortenberry, had earlier been suspended for refusing to cooperate with acting police chief Dennis Hopson.

The Board of Aldermen vote to fire the officers happened Thursday night, Crider said Lumberton has six full-time officers remaining.
