Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel for George Monroe Cire, 86, of Hammond, La., formerly of Picayune, who passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Hammond.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. R.T. Buckley will officiate at the service.

A native of Madisonville, La., Monroe worked for 35 years for Chevron Oil Company and was a member of New Palestine Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, George Simon Cire and Elena Stockstill Cire; and his sister, Inez Estes.

Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Mary Grish Cire of Hammond; his son, George Edward Cire of Littleton, Colo.; his daughter, Mary Beth (Roddy) Doughty of Taylors, S.C.; and his grandchildren, Megan Cire and Barron Doughty.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
