The Pearl River County road department said West Union Road between the railroad tracks and Lumpkin Road will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, for repairs.

A road department spokesman said the closure is a “total closure” because a cross drain culvert is being replaced and a ditch will split the road in two halves between those points and will be completely impassable until repairs are complete.

“This is right after a holiday (Memorial Day), and I hope we are giving people enough notice to remember because that’s a heavily traveled road,” the spokesman said.
