West Point accountant Gary Hamilton has asked a federal judge for a new trial or to toss out his conviction that he helped a Tupelo man evade federal income taxes.
U.S. District Judge W. Allen Pepper has not ruled on the motion.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Hamilton and Tupelo businessman Jack P. Holleman were indicted last year on charges of helping Holleman avoid a decade of taxes.
Holleman pleaded guilty to one count. He has not been sentenced.
Hamilton was convicted of two counts.
Holleman faces up to five years in prison. Hamilton faces up to 10 years.
