The two suspects involved in Wednesday’s Bogalusa, La., bank robbery and White Sand shoot-out have been identified and charged.

Bogalusa Police Chief Joe Culpepper said the suspects are 22 year-old Walter Aswell of Mandeville and 23 year-old Logan Mills of Covington. They both have been charged with armed robbery, three counts each of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, dangerous use of a weapon, resisting arrest and aggravated destruction of a highway, to name a few, Culpepper said.

Of those charges, the armed robbery carries a 99-year sentence, if the suspects are convicted, according to Louisiana state law, Culpepper said. The attempted murder of a law officer carries up to 50 years per charge, if convicted.

Aswell and Mills are charged with their alleged involvement in the Wednesday morning  Capital One bank robbery. After which the two suspects attempted to flee law enforcement officers along Mississippi Highway 26, before stopping at the now closed restaurant and grocery store known as Sheila’s in the White Sand community. There the suspects engaged in an exchange of gunfire with officers that lead in which both suspects were wounded. They were transported to Forrest General Hospital. Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said both suspects are expected to survive.

No officers were injured in the incident.
