Lawmakers pass community college budget

The House and Senate on Wednesday passed a budget bill for the state’s community colleges.

Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Doug Davis, a Republican from Hernando, says the colleges would receive about $226 million, which is a 4.3 percent increase over the current budget.

The bill has been held for more debate in the House.
