Poplarville captured the Region 8-4A championship with two wins this week.

The Lady Hornets beat Pass Christian 13-3 on Thursday and knocked off Forrest County AHS Saturday 6-0.

Poplarville has won 11 straight games, and stands 16-7 overall and a perfect 9-0 in league play.

In the win against PCHS, Rachel Hickman smacked a grand slam and drove in six runs. Rachel Breland had three hits and an RBI, while Tristan Wheat, Tori Fairchild and Micah Davis each had a pair of hits apiece.

Ashton Rogers picked up the win

In the win over FCAHS, Chelsea Barrett and Hannnah Herndon had three hits apiece, while Breanna Herndon added two hits to the winning cause. Sam Gentry had two RBI’s, and Wheat added a double.

Rachel Hickman picked up the win.

Poplarville travels to Bay High Monday.
