A Los Angeles bluesman will lead a music workshop at two elementary schools in the Mississippi Delta.
The visit by musician Bernie Pearl on Wednesday and Thursday is part of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center’s visiting artist program.
Pearl will present a blues workshop for students at Inverness Elementary and Lockard Elementary. On Thursday, Pearl and bassist Mike Barry will perform live at the museum. The performance is free and open to the public.
Pearl is a Los Angeles native. He took up the guitar in the 1950’s. A news release from the museum says Pearl’s band has performed with B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Willie Dixon, and Big Joe Turner.
