JoJo Dodd is at it again.

The high school Senior is promoting his second concert in less than a year, the “Love Come to Life Tour” will take place at the Picayune Auditorium on April 9, at 7 p.m. The main concert will feature Big Daddy Weave, Chris Sligh (who appeared on American Idol), and Illuminate. In addition to the night concert, there will be a Day Stage with some heavy hitting local talent performing free of charge to anyone that wants to pull up a lawn chair, or blanket and listen.

This year’s concert is brought with the help of the Non- Profit, World Vision, an international Christian relief agency.

Dodd says, “I’m excited to have the sponsorship and passionate people that have stepped up to make this happen this year.”

“Highland Hospital and Aaron’s have been our biggest supporters of this effort, as well as Jacob’s Well Ministries. We have found that the economy has taken a hit on our sponsors that helped with our first concert, but we have received more donations from fewer sponsors this time, so that is exciting,” he says.

“I’m very excited to be able to offer V.I.P. privileges. This year’s privileges will be preferred seating, private shopping, meeting the bands and seeing backstage happenings. It costs $30, and I think it is a better value than last year because we learned from last year,” he continues.

Picayune Concert Committee members are: Jonathan Denton, Erin Moran, Toni Byrd, Bill Moran, Darlene Adams, Ray Ritchie, Trishia Gibson, Sandy Houston, Angela Switzler, Noah Frank, and Jodi Marze.

Ray Ritchie, Co- Chair in charge of the Day Stage, says, “We are extremely excited about the ‘Love Come to Life Tour’ with Big Daddy Weave, Chris Sligh and Luminate. It’s gonna be a great concert. Our Day Stage is going to be a hotspot of fantastic local talent as well. Music will start at 11:30 a.m. with one of six of our local area, so very talented, Christian bands! We currently have 4 acts booked for the Day Stage, Rock the Flock, GodSpeed 3, I am Ruined and Sarrah Denton – Willhite.”

He continued, “We still have two slots available at this time as well as food vendor spots available. For more information interested parties may call 601-990-9235. We are looking forward to a spectacular event and want to invite everyone to grab a blanket or some lawn chairs and come on out to Jack Reed Park for a great day of awesome Christian music from our local talent and a great concert to follow. God has his hand in this event and I am very blessed to be working with such a great group of folks on this project and am thankful for the opportunity.

Darlene Adams, Committee member, says, “I’m excited to part of this project. It’s important for our local churches to support Christian concerts in our area. There is a need for this venue and we are even blessed to have local talent showcased at the Day Stage. It’s good for our young people and it’s good for our community.”

This year’s proceeds from the concert will be divided between Jacob’s Well Ministries and the Picayune Civic Woman’s Club.

Dodd says, “Both organizations played a vital role in last year’s concert, do a lot of good in the community and are returning to help again with this year’s concert.”
