Casino workers may get oil spill funds

The group charged with administrating BP’s $20 billion Gulf oil spill fund says it will start processing claims from casino workers next week.

Kenneth Feinberg, the Washington lawyer who oversees the fund, said Friday through a spokeswoman that the Gulf Coast Claims Facility will begin processing 2,500 claims next week. The workers will have to show a loss caused by the oil spill that started after the April 20 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon.

Bartenders, dealers and other casino workers have complained that their claims were dismissed without serious consideration.

Feinberg has said recently that he wants to improve the overall claims process after many people complained about the size and pace of payments.
