A Hancock County grand jury has indicted Timothy Nelson Evans for capital murder in the 2010 death of his landlady at her Kiln home in 2010.

Prosecutors say the body of 70-year-old Wenda Lafern Holling was found in her home on Jan. 2, 2010. An autopsy showed she had been strangled.

Evans was arrested in Florida a month later.

Evans also has been indicted for robbery.

Prosecutors say Evans had been a boarder at Holling’s home for about two years. Her family had reported her missing on Jan. 5, 2010, and authorities say Evans told investigators that he thought the victim had gone away with friends.

Evans has since been held in various Mississippi jails under a $1 million bond since his arrest.
