Sylva Dee Spicer

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Picayune for Sylva Dee Spicer, 72, of Picayune, who passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Collins, Miss.

Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jim Biedenharn will officiate at the service.

A native of Trap Hill, N.C., he was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. In addition, he was a Fire Protection and Safety Engineer and a member of First United Methodist Church of Picayune and the Oviedo Masonic Lodge in Oviedo, Fla.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Derais and Etta Spicer; and one sister, Ella Spicer.

Survivors include: his wife, Carol Hansen Spicer of Picayune; one daughter, Leslie Fowler of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Russell Spicer of Fort Collins, Colo.; two step-daughters, Valerie Dusang of Picayune and Heather Baker of Brandon, Miss.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillie Miles of Trap Hill; and one brother, Jerry Spicer of Clearwater, Fla.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Picayune.
