Susan Elaine Eggen McIntosh, 52, passed away unexpectedly January 9, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011, at St. Therese Catholic Church with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday January 14, 2011, at St. Therese Catholic Church with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Florence Cemetery with Chancellor Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Mrs. McIntosh was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 7, 1958 and grew up in Metairie, La. She was an Explorer Scout, avid lover of horses and served in the Peace Corps in Ecuador from 1982 to 1984. Susan received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from L.S.U. and a Master of Science in Forestry from M.S.U. After receiving her masters, Susan worked for the U.S. Forest service in Starkville, Miss. where she met and married Michael McIntosh in May, 1991. They moved to Byram, Miss. in 1994 where Susan worked for the U.S. Geological Survey. They moved to Florence in 2004.

Susan was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church and was very dedicated to family and her children. She loved the outdoors, animals and gardening. Her other interests included reading, jewelry making and the Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society.

Survivors include: husband, Michael Burns McIntosh; daughters, Michelle Ann McIntosh and Maureen Rose McIntosh; parents, Dr. Douglas Ambrose Eggen and Elsie Margaret Gertz Eggen of Sebastian, Fla.; brother, Dr. Steven Douglas Eggen (Joan) of Sebastian, Fla.; and a sister, Karen Joan Eggen Pilman (John) of Acworth, Ga.; and 12 nieces and nephews.
