Martin B. “Sam” Sampaga, Jr., 77, of Picayune passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at The Pines Apartments for close friends and relatives.

Sam was a member of New Testament Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army and was a retired Federal Employee of the Pearl Harbor Shipyard, Honolulu, Hawaii. He loved serenading his wife and friends by playing his ukulele.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Seraphine Sampaga; his father, Martin Sampaga, Sr., and son, Carlton Reese Sampaga.

He is survived by: his wife, Anita Dyess Sampaga of Picayune; his devoted Cocker Spaniel, Andy; three daughters, Raynette Bantolina of Honolulu, Hawaii, April Rapez of Honolulu, and Journette Napeahi of Kona, Hawaii; one son, Carl Wayne Sampaga of Washington; one brother, Crispino Sampaga of Wahiawa, Hawaii; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home and Crematory.
