Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Trinity Heights Church of God, Hattiesburg for Connie Whitfield Smith, 55, of Petal, Miss., who passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at her residence. Pastor Bevon Smith, Pastor Raymond Jeffcoat, and Pastor Gary Sumrall officiated at the service. Burial followed at 3:30 p.m. in the Juniper Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Poplarville.

A native of Picayune, she was born November 18, 1955 to Paul Edwin Whitfield, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Bounds-Whitfield. She was a Sales Clerk with Petal Shoe Shop and a member of Trinity Heights Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Edwin Whitfield, Jr.

Survivors include: her husband, Johnny H. Smith of Poplarville; one brother, Patrick Dudley Whitfield of Columbia, Miss.; one sister, Patricia Arnaud of Petal; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation was held Friday, January 14, 2011 at White Funeral Home, Poplarville from 6-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of services at Trinity Heights Church of God, 6907 Highway 49 Hattiesburg, MS 39402 (601) 268-2815.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Connie Whitfield Smith Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at any Hancock Bank location.
