A county resident died in a one vehicle accident Thursday morning on Gumpond Beall Road.

Capt. Kelvin Stanford with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was called into the department at about 7:09 Thursday morning.

When officers arrived to the scene of the accident on Gumpond Beall Road near the intersection of Harry Davis Road they found a 2004 Nissan Maxima had left the roadway, Stanford said.

According to the investigation Stanford said it appeared the Maxima was north bound on Gumpond Beall when the vehicle, driven by 32 year-old Mandy G. Ladner of 2088 Hwy. 26, Poplarville, left the road way in a curve near that intersection for an unknown reason.

After the vehicle left the road on the right side it struck an embankment, struck several trees and overturned, Stanford said. He said there were no witnesses to the accident and no other vehicles or passengers were involved.

Stanford said the roads being wet at the time of the accident could have been a contributing factor. Ladner was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was not ejected.

Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said Ladner’s cause of death was attributed to massive head trauma sustained in the accident. Turnage said Ladner was a nurse at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg and was on her way to work when the accident occurred.
