An attorney for Danny’s, a downtown Jackson strip club, said the club’s owners have agreed to reword their provocative billboard ads, but apparently someone decided not to wait.

The billboard on I-55 North in south Jackson featuring a bikini-clad model and the controversial slogan “Strippers love to climb our pole” had been pulled down by Monday afternoon.

Whether it was stripped or fell on its own is unknown. Danny’s attorney, Chris Ganner,said that the owners did not have it removed. The club’s billboards drew heavy criticism last month from motorists as too racy for such a public display.

Last month, Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. sent a letter to the club’s owners asking them to consider removing the signs.
