Minor, 2 ex-judges to be resentenced this month

Disbarred attorney Paul Minor and two former Mississippi judges will be resentenced this month in a judicial bribery case.
Minor, who had been among Mississippi’s most successful lawyers, and Harrison County judges John Whitfield and Wes Teel were convicted in 2007 on numerous corruption charges.
A federal appeals court overturned the bribery charges in December 2009, but upheld others, including mail fraud, wire fraud and honest services fraud.
The new sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 17 in Jackson. All three men are in prison. Minor is serving the longest sentence, 11 years.
It’s not clear if much time will be cut off Minor’s sentence because he got the most time for a racketeering conviction, which was upheld.
