The Biloxi Indians tallied more than 300 yards rushing Friday evening en route to a 38-28 victory over the Hancock Hawks.
The Indians had two running backs reach the century mark in the game. Senior tailback Travoris Robinon tallied 153 yards and Freshman Devorie Martin collected 122 yards on the evening.
In a losing effort for the Hawks, quarterback Aaron Ladner passed for 215 yards.
Things looked promising early for the Hawks, when they took the opening kickoff and drove 80-yards for a touchdown.
Running back Alex Jackson busted loose on a 51-yard run, and Ladner connected with Michael Henry three plays later for a five-yard touchdown.
Tyler Laurent’s point-after gave the Hawks a 7-0 lead.
The lead, however, was short-lived, as the Indians racked up 28 unanswered points in their next four drives.
Robinson and Martin scores, along with a quarterback keeper from Hawtin Buchannan and a pass from Buchannan to Scott Austin.
Hancock got a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Tyrone Williams to cut the lead to 28-14 before the half.
Biloxi extended the lead in the third when Buchannan hit Austin for a 54-yard scoring strike.
Biloxi added a 35-yard field goal to made the lead 38-14 as the fourth quarter started.
Hancock dented the scoreboard twice in the final stanza, with a one-yard run by Ladner, and a 45-yard pass from Ladner to Henry.
Jackson was the Hawks leading ground gainer with 96 yards on six carries. He also caught three passes for 37 yards.
Williams, who led all of Mississippi 6A football in receptions coming into Friday’s contest, added eight more catches, but for only 78 yards.
Hancock fell to 3-7 on the season.
The Hawks will finish their season next Friday against Harrison Central.
