A Mississippi arts group and a community volunteer are each receiving a $50,000 grant to help promote their work.

The Foundation for the Mid South on Friday announced the winners of its “Do-Gooders” grants. The group awarded $300,000 total, with money divided equally among  Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.

The Mississippi grant recipients are the Delta Arts Alliance in Cleveland, which promotes cultural awareness for children; and Starkville resident April Heiselt, who coordinates volunteer efforts for students and others. Heiselt’s grant will help the Starkville chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
